Laguna de Santa Rosa
Today, I stuck a little closer to home. I waited until GG was finished with school work, then we went for a walk at Laguna De Santa Rosa. This park has been a place that I have strolled through quite a bit in the last year. Right now it is pretty dry and... well... drab. The leaves have fallen off the trees, everything is brown and crispy, and the water is odd green color. When the rainy season finally comes, this area will flood and fill up with water and become beautiful and green.
During the spring and summer, there is a seasonal bridge that goes over the waterway, and it is beautiful and lush. I often see night herons around the bridge. My favorite time to walk here is in the early morning, when the birds are most active. There are so many of them, and they make loud, beautiful music. There are always lots of quail scurrying around as well. There are dozens of spider webs dripping with dew, and when the sun shines on them, they are a sight to behold.
Today, the parking lot was quite full, we walked the trail that loops around by the water while most people were on the big trail going straight to Occidental Road. It was a nice walk, but it made me really wish that the rain would come. I'm kind of tired of brown and dry landscape. I think I will stick to coastal and redwood parks until we get some rain... I want green and lush! Here are some photos:
Beautiful photos!
