Healing Through Nature

Here is my challenge:  We are in a pandemic that is ramping up every day, and I have two daughters in middle school, who are doing virtual school from home.  We have all gotten even more sedentary during this pandemic.  We are sitting and looking at screens way too much.   Then there are all the other layers like fires, political unrest,  family stuff, etc.

Here is how I have decided to take on that challenge:  Healing through nature.  I am going to explore (via walking or bike) a new park in Northern California every single day.   It will be primarily in Sonoma County or Marin County.  Maybe sometime we will venture into neighboring counties like San Francisco, Napa or Alameda. Oh, and I should mention that I recently started an extended leave of absence from work, so I am freed from my other full-time job until around July/August.

Since we live in an area that has incredible natural beauty, I thought I would invite others along for the ride, and maybe inspire others to get out and explore new places.  I was getting kinda bored with visiting the same places day-in and day-out, so I'm excited about it!  It gives me something to look forward to, and this pandemic has taught me that having something look forward to is very important to my happiness.

Each day, I'll write a post and share my experience along with some photos.  I'm hoping that on most days I can get one or both girls to come with me and maybe even Jason!  If you have recommendations of spots to visit, please add a comment with the recommendation.

Although I have visited a lot of parks in recent weeks, I'm going to start today with my daily post.  Sierra and I visited Schollenberger Park in Petaluma for the first time, so I'll write about that today.

In the meantime, to make this post a bit more attractive, here is a photo of the girls riding their bike at Pt. Lobos State Reserve (Central Coast) from last week.   Its one of my favorite places to go explore along the coast.
