Shollenberger Park

Today, Sierra and I took a late morning walk at Shollenberger Park in Petaluma, CA.  I had to pick up my bread flour at Central Milling in Petaluma, so I searched for a park near there.  Since Sierra could take a break in her school work today, she came with me (yay!).  After checking out the website: https://www.sonomacounty.com/outdoor-activities/shollenberger-park , I decided that the 2.2 mile loop along the Petaluma River and wetlands was perfect for the amount of time we had.  We had a little bit of trouble finding it -- Google maps took us into a corporate center, and we could not find an entrance to the trail, but after some weaving around through parking lots, we found it!  It has a low profile sign into a driveway sandwiched between two office buildings, then there is a parking lot with nice bathrooms at the trail head.   We set off on our way, and we had a super nice walk with barely anyone else there, and definitely at a safe distance, so no...

Healing Through Nature

Here is my challenge:  We are in a pandemic that is ramping up every day, and I have two daughters in middle school, who are doing virtual school from home.  We have all gotten even more sedentary during this pandemic.  We are sitting and looking at screens way too much.   Then there are all the other layers like fires, political unrest,  family stuff, etc. Here is how I have decided to take on that challenge:  Healing through nature.  I am going to explore (via walking or bike) a new park in Northern California every single day.   It will be primarily in Sonoma County or Marin County.  Maybe sometime we will venture into neighboring counties like San Francisco, Napa or Alameda. Oh, and I should mention that I recently started an extended leave of absence from work, so I am freed from my other full-time job until around July/August.
